East Central South Dakota | He is dead on right. I received first in the nation in an upland game management contest, received national recognition for CRP wildlife management from NRCS and other wildlife management awards. Have have run a commercial hunting operation for 12 years and this spring we closed it and we are breaking all the habitat and planting it to beans and corn.
There is no future in hunting because the government (GFP) won't leave you alone. Just a bunch of guys trying to justify their job. Road hunting has made the roads unsafe, poaching is out of control, constant trespassing. The national parks are biological waste lands because of the wolfs, lions and bears and they are moving are way (east). The hawks are taking all the pheasants, how many hawks is enough ? We have gone from wildlife advocats to trying to get rid of the habitat fast in one years time because of the attitudes of government wildlife agencies and sportsman that want public access on private land.
If you want to pheasant hunt in SD come fast because in 3-5 years we will have none and it is not all about the price of corn and beans. PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS AND GOVERNMENT MICROMANAGEMENT HAVE A BIG PLAY ALSO. SD had a lot of pheasants because everybody commercial hunted and now we are all getting out and we will see were the population goes !!!! We will see how Pheasants Forever does on their little 30 acre public hunting areas. They will be good for about 2 days. |
