Subject: Re: To farm or Not to Farm

Michigan - Saginaw County
It is gonna take a trailer load of borrowed cash to farm for the first few years until you can build up working cash... You don't have cash flow from last year for this years $350/ac. inputs - and you haven't prepurchased seed and fertilizer (which are basically spoken for already - I had a lousy 4 bags of corn left over and the dealer took it back in a heartbeat and thanked me)... So any deal with the brothers will also need them to help you with borrowing the cash per acre to put the crop in the ground...
The other issue is how are you going to put food on the table while you are farming 14 hours a day spring and fall?

Now having poured cold water all over you - let me say good luck and I sincerely hope you make the transition...
