Henderson, Minnesota | In the real old days, pre 1950's maybe, Catholic suicide victims weren't allowed Catholic burial rites, or if a funeral Mass was offered, the body wasn't allowed into the church. Suicide victims were buried in a back corner of the cemetery. As thoughts on suicide evolved, many priests considered that the victim was "out of his mind" at the time of suicide, so he wasn't really in control of his actions, so a normal funeral and burial could be conducted. Not sure what the thinking is today, haven't heard of a suicide victim being treated differently in the last 30 years or so.
