| I disagree with the other two opinions so far. It is OK to slip the clutch for short periods of time under light loads. I think in the situation you describe, it would be just fine. This is no different than slipping a clutch on a loader tractor repeatedly when loading and dumping material. Done right, only "normal" wear will occur. Just keep in mind that whenever you slip a clutch, heat is being generated and if it is prolonged, it will damage clutch components. The trick is in knowing how much is too much. If you can smell it, you've gone too far. | |
