southern MN | You have some good reservations on how we should treat customers - end users - of our beef products in your messages on this. Sometimes we farmers get the 'bulk commodity least cost' mentality.
Frankly, our consumers get into that 'least cost' thinking as well.
'Pink slime' is another one of those catch phrases made up by the media. So, this is a media-hyped deal.
That doesn't mean we should ignore our end users, or not care about public opinion.
This story puts everyone in a tough position.
Went to the store last week and the lean hamburger we buy wasn't there. Had to go to a fattier one.
What is good or bad for me??????
Maybe Lean Finely Textured Beef would end up being healthier for me over the decades?
I'll never know, I guess. Some media fella nick-named it 'pink slime' and what's in a name?
