Oh well the slatted floors sure makes a difference I bet. I do have an ongoing tussle with some on here who say that raising heifers is cheap. I would like someone to show what their costs are for the first 60 days, broke down. BTW, we pay close to $100 a bag for milk replacer, with all the lasoacids and new-fangled better-digestion technology.

I can see why you are confused, Burdick, because of the terminology "waste milk". It's a vague term and what you call waste maybe I don't call waste. I am sure we put milk in our tank that others on here would not. Some go for big quality premiums but we went for volume. So long as it was legal to sell it, we sold it. Now, the ruling is changing so we have to change with it. We have to decide to get a pasteurizer and use that high SCC milk for the calves, or ship the high SCC cows, or dry up the offending quarter.
