Subject: Injector Pump on JD 6 cylinder diesel engine

Trying to get a JD 6 cylinder diesel engine to run. Just got this engine which is supposedly out of a 9920 JD cotton picker. Story goes as i was told engine was running when taken out of cotton picker and been setting for along time. Manifold was not covered and you know waht happens then with moisture. Engine was very hard to turn like it was partialy stuck. Took the exhaust manifold off worked with it turning engine back and forth to get the valves opening and closing to find what I expected from manifold not being covered to keep moisture / water out. Got the water off the cylinders and kept working turning it back and forth till it got to turn a little better. Got some fuel and put some hot fire on it to try to turn it over to see if it would fire but engine was lagging/ turning slow and starter getting hot. Kept working with it and give it a shot of starting fluid and ole Deere John bigin to cough and spit some but would not crank still dragging. Kept working with turning back and forth and finally ole John hit, fired and run on the starting fluid but was not getting fuel to the injectors. Fuel is going to the injector pump but not from the injector pump to the injectors. The injector pump is a complex precision pump to work on and a costly part to replace or rebuild. This pump has the electric silonoid on it. Anybody got any thoughts and experience with these Rosa Master injector pumps of what may can be wrong and a way to check out the pump to find waht is wrong and see if it may be something simple to fix ???
