Subject: small square baler?

Took a load of hay to auction today(small squares). Was looking at the loads of small squares and found one load. 2 strings for each side and one knot. It was heavey sisal twine but doubled with one knot. Some of the bales had one string on one side then double the other some both sides double.Guys parking the loads for the auction Wednesday didnt know whos wagon it was but would find out and get the story. Stopped at local JD place on way home nobody ever heard ot that setup. I can see getting double string through twine box and then through needles but how would the knotter handle that or what did they change or is there a baler knotter that will do that. Been around small squares for 40 years this is a new one...
