Subject: Re: Deere hyd FWA 20/30 series ???

HFWD wheel motor housings have relief valves, one in each unit, that open at 55 psi that protect the housings from excessive pressure due to leakage. They dump externally. Main pump is 4 cu. in. vs. 3 in a 2 wd tractor. System pressure 2250-2300 psi. If it has been operating normally before this, cold oil is problem, if not internal wear is. This tractor will have 10 micron hydraulic filter if it has the proper part number is installed and regular Hy-Gard will not flow through the filter media at low temperatures, increasing the chance of this happening due to high return pressures in system. Hope this helps.
