I'm not an expert on these either but i don remember back when i worked at the JD dealership these were a real PIA. They are run by the hydralic pump as said before and that stand-by psi should be around 2200-2500. Did you try switching the power off to the assist until the oil was warmed up? Another posibility running it in high when you were slower speed gears? Just some thoughts
