West Texas | I don't think there is another crop out there that can do what wheat will for your ground. The summer fallow gives you the chance to bank the moisture for the next year. It also gives you some time for nematode numbers to moderate. I've been doing this on a circle and a half. 2 halves of cotton and 1 of wheat. The cotton following the wheat is always awesome. Yields are excellent and grades. But I will say that I'm fertilizing the wheat for 100 bushels. I'm averaging in the neighborhood of 80 bushels. Also another advantage is not having to waste water growing a cover. I think you will like that rotation. It really shined this year! | |
