I have been using a JD head with standard rolls also. I have a CIH combine and I think I will go to a CIH head which does a fair amount of chopping. I don't have any experience with it yet. I think I will try to keep the head as high as I can and still get the ears in. This will help reduce some of the mat of residue on the ground. I'm afraid if you get all the residue on the ground it will be too much.
