For us, full season beans are just too risky except on our wettest soil. Budget wise, wheat/dc beans and corn are pretty even net money. Full season beans are a distant third here. There are many things that can lead to what u are talking about and most of them can be corrected to some extent besides mother nature. My advice would be to start by talking with a good agronomist. There are several within a reasonable distance of your location. Good luck!
