If you lift the coulters up or take them off, you can plant earlier without slabbing the sidewall and get good results.

Notill works best if you have ground that doesn't need to be work and most soybean stubble doesn't need to be, a good fertilizer and chemical program and adequate drainage, the more the better.

I expect you could have success and convert to more notill if you pick the right hybrid and treat it right. I never found a hybrid that wouldn't work notill but some work better than others. I need a little better root system on my hybrids in my soil but now it is so mellow I can plant about any root type.
