I usually apply around 200lbs of 0-0-60 for each corn, beans, and wheat. Soil samples are generally taken sometime after the crop is off, but before fall fertilize goes on. For alfalfa, I will put down between 400-600lbs 0-0-60, depending on the stand, etc.
I have found very few visual symptoms of K deficiency.
I have tissue tested my alfalfa several times, never finding a K deficiency. I'll attach a few tissue tests that go back a few years. You will notice the low Mg on the 03 and 05 tissue test that prompted me to seek an affordable Mg source.
