It seems as if my ground will just suck the residue right up. A 200 bushel corn crop no tilled into is pretty much gone by june of the next year. I hear people talk about having too much residue that won't decompose. I do not have that problem. I think somthing is out of balance. That there is more to building soil then I realize. For example. Good compost seems to be very stable. Yet a pile of straw is not. It will be gone in no time.

So I want to know how to get the soil to turn the residue into compost. Am I on the right track?
