| Tried tiling today for the 1st time ever. I'm not sure the exact term but we used a pitch style plow that we pulled behind our 4 wheel drive tractor. I think it was called soil max stealth. We had a terrible time with stones. When we plowed in the 6 inch pipe at a depth of about 4 1/2 feet , the burried rocks would force the plow up and when we dug the dirt out to see, we found the tile was sometimes a foot too high. This would happen every 100to 200 ft. The rocks that were causing the problems were sometimes 2-5 feet in diameter. From the little I know, I believe this type of plow uses its pitch angle to determine its depth and when operating is in float position and has no hydraulic down-pressure.
Is tiling no longer an option for me ,or would a para link style machine which I believe does have downpressure be an option? Are rocks a common problem for others? I have no experience with any of this stuff | |
