Subject: Re: Soybean ground

Central Florida
jbgruver posted a link for a presentation called "managing undermanaged nutrients" several pages back on this site. http://www.slideshare.net/jbgruver/undermanaged-nutrients
The string was about gypsum. I downloaded the presentation because we are having the same problems here in Missouri. Our ground is so hard we can't apply Nh3 or rip it. Discing is going down 3/4" for the wheat planting. In it it discusses the low electrolyte content of rain water and how that reduces the flocculation of clay particles. That makes the ground hard when there isn't air space anymore in the top soil. Our low organic soils were pounded with heavy rains all spring and then it baked for 4 months with insignifacant rains.
