Subject: going out on a limb with dairy prices

frederick, MD

What is everybody thinking as far as the dairy market goes.  I am getting very scared.  This whole price run up has been supported by exports.  The dollar is getting much stronger compared to the euro and new zeland currency . I feel that they are going to take a large portion of our export market.  It will not take much to send dairy prices tumbling.

At the same time production continues to grow while demand is relativly flat.  All the smart guy advisors are recomending to go ahead and price the last quarter of the year.  I a thinking that if history predicts the future I should forward contract my milk as far out as i can .  we know from the last 12 years that when dairy prices go south, they go for 12 to 18 months at a time
