The key to that sugar cookie recipe is the Real Butter.

When I was growing up, my sister would bake sugar cookies, I never cared for them even when I was a kid. Then I got married, when my wife makes sugar cookies I'll just about knock a door down to get to them. Real butter is a big part of that, also taking them out of the oven a little early so they stay a bit soft instead of getting to the crispness of soda crackers. They don't look done when she takes them out of the oven, but by the time they cool they are done.
