North Central Ohio, across the Corn belt !

quote. S.L.  (  on Calcareous soils Like Gerald J and Wilson have, and or soils with a CEC of 30 to 40 with less than 1 ppm K
800 to 1,000 Lb application of 0-0-62 is quite practical for Vegetable and general crop production if one wants high yields and Healthy production.

I have recommended
1,000 Lbs of 0-0-62
1,000lbs of K-Mag to be applied and this has Turned these soils around and Made them very Productive for the past 30 years.
Yes, this was a special soil with unique properties. the soils that did not get this treatment are still producing the 30-40 bu S.B.
while the soils that did have produced 60 Plus Bu. since the early 80's after this corrective adjustment, treatment  ) end quote.

Wilson has learned to handle his K applications for High quality hay much the same way.

wilson, quote ( If one has applied 300 Lbs of 0-0-62 to a soil with a CEC of 15
15 CEC X 2 = 30 CEC so 600 0-0-62 is required etc. etc.

or applied 400Lbs of 0-0-62 on a soil of CEC value of 20, then a CEC of 40 requires a 800 Lb application.
on these soils with 1 ppm or less K readings. it is hard to get a 2 or more even with these application rates. But we do See Production and Plant health Results regardless of the soil analysis reading. We have learned to live with a 2ppm reading as long as  (   the total yield is there. )
end Wilson quote.

on average soils with a 6.5 PH, 60-65% Calcium.- 15 % Magnesium, a 4%-8% K is quite desirable for High Production S.B. s
