I don't think farming or cattle ever pencil out to pay for the land very quickly, especially if you're highly leveraged. However, if income goes up, land goes up, inflation, etc. then it can. When I get bored I look at Mexican ranches for sale. Something about thirty bucks an acre just sounds awesome.
