| Right question mcupps, what is the right rate for that area in the field. What is the yield limiting factor in the poor area in the field. Is it the white tailed rats, or as we suffer from there in Pa, poor water holding capacity? The high yielding areas will remove more, but in shelled corn does the soil generate more because of the mineralization of the OM from the previous years? We had been doing the blanket apps for ever. If they are the way to go, why do my profit maps look better in the always high yielding areas? Seems that the technology is able to let us go for the highest VALUE in the field, ID the reason for the low yields and treat accordingly. This is starting to be our approach, sometimes raises more questions than answers. But if we don't question, we won't find for answer.
