When I read your original post, I thought you were overreacting.  I'm sorry, but every reply you have typed since then has reinforced my opinion. 

The student should have an RA on her floor and several others administrating the dorm, plus an academic adviser in her department.  If you want to be helpful, make sure she knows what the proper channels are, and let her take care of herself.  I'll guarantee that they have handled incompatible roomates before....and you can bet that there will be lots of people moved around after the first weeks. 

I can only guess that the frequency of lesbian gang members from california attending college in tennessee is very small.
