North Central Kansas | Your calves look good. To answer your question, yes there is a premium for replacement heifers if you market them correctly. I would suggest finding a barn that has special repalcement heifer sales or advertise them and sale them yourself. It will however be more difficult at that time of year since most hiefer sales are later in the spring. Be able to show vacination records and absence of any growth hormones (although the effects ofthat and fertility is being debated), and sire pedigree. Any EPDs of sire and damm would be benneficial as well. I see your calves are crossbred. That could help as well. Crossbreeding has proven to improve growth, and fertility traits. Good Luck. | |
