West Salem, Illinois | wondered how the western cattle would react to our fescue. Around here the "old timers" all say that it takes two seasons for them to adjust, thats why it doesn't pay to bring in aged cows.
As far as the endo free goes, I wouldn't have the stuff neighbor ripped up a bunch of pasture and with EQIP reseeded to a non endo variety, he never did get a stand. The stuff wouldn't come up at all ended up having to reseeded with a endo infested varitey just to get something growing. That was three years back so maybe they have improved, but just like alot of things, you breed one charecteristic out and another trait (that you need) leaves with it.
If a person was interested, whats the smallest group a person could get? I know the trucking would be high on just a few, but smaller Midwest herds trying to improve and grow their herd would just need a few. | |
