Fayetteville Arkansas | I know I live in a high P zone with 400-500 ppm on my places, that surely comes from many years of over application. When tested for mixed grass last year the recommended dose from the NRCS was still 3-4 tons per acre and that was strictly to get the N rate. After seeing the TMDL in action out East we now have the EPA here currently writing our TMDL and I'm sure they will go for that 200ppm mentioned above, but it doesn't mean a thing if it isn't enforced and who will enforce it? When you look at NASS stats you see that 660,000 tons are used as fertilizer here in Arkansas yet we produce over 2 million tons.....where's all that extra at, it's certainly a big pile somewhere and that also shows that noone has a grip on accounting for it? Last year one of my neighbors went with 8 tons per acre.....the current strategy......overload it if they're going to stop us from using it and start exporting it. These problems didn't arrive overnight nor will they go away overnight. | |
