Subject: RE: conventional bean herbicide programs

Back in the day when herbicides came on the scene, dad was too, er, German, to spend money spraying weeds. So I missed out on the early technology. Today it is all glysophate talk so don't hear much of the old bean ideas/ products.

I keep hearing of 'yellow', but I have no clue what chemical that is, or what brand names. I assume, even with my German background, one doesn't drink enough to 'yellow' the whole field???

Anyone can fill me in on what 'yellow' is?

I spray my conventionals with Valor pre-emerge, followed by Select for grasses, followed by Flextar for broadleaves. Don't tankmix those 2, the Flex will burn off but not kill the grasses be4 the Select does anything, & you waste $$$ & no grass control. If you have clean fields, you may be able to skip one or both of the post sprays, but if you're asking about tough weeds, probably not.....

Gangster was a better pre than just Valor, but they keep it in tight supply & we don't get any up here as it gets used up south of me.... At least as my supplier describes.
