We were really dry last year and I ran an inline ripper as deep as I could pull it and I think it is the only thing that has saved us in this extreme drought we are in. The ripper I ran doesn't disturb the top of the ground. I do have to agree with one of the other posts because the cracks here are getting big and deep.
