Go to yesterday's tractors website (ytmag.com), do a search on electrolysis rust removal. A guy that goes by "f-i-t" has a detailed step by step to make a simple rust removal system with a battery charger and a rubbermaid tub of water (NOT to be confused with putting a toaster in a bathtub). Should work well for your problem. Some of the old timers have a lot of useful info over there.
