Subject: Re: Price of Wheat straw in Ontario

SW Ontario
I think the numbers you are running are close. Depending on when you are pricing fertilizer replacement costs it will be likely higher than last year so therefore the straw should be worth more. The biggest value in the straw could be the organic matter it returns but that is a tough one to put a number on. However, over the long run anything that can be done to improve soil OM, tilth, structure etc. seems to be worth it and it shows especially in years like this one.

BTW - Straw price is somewhat dictated by supply and demand and in this area I would say there is an above average number of acres of wheat.
