Are you sure about that 97'? We have one with the same number of rings on a neighboring farm we rent. The rings measure 55" IIRC, and counting 16.5 rings tall, that means it's 75' plus the roof. Maybe 79' total.

For taking them down, we had two removed a couple years ago, one at home, and another beside the Harvestor next door. Amish did them both. They wanted ours at home to re-build at their farm. They took down the one next door in trade for getting our good one from home. Knocked the one next door down in about 20 minutes with two sledge hammers swung by two 14-year-old boys. Took ours down one stave at a time and stacked them on pallets in less than a day.
