Sioux Center, Iowa | From what I understand, moisture determines what type of bugs multiply to create the ensiling process. Too wet and you get manure, from the wrong type of fermentation. I carry a Farmex tester in the chopper and will not chop if it's over 65%. We've wasted too much feed potential by chopping it too wet. The wrong fermentation will give dairy cattle acidosis if fed improperly. | |
