Subject: Re: Basement Sump Pumps ?

What size sump pump? I have a 3/4HP one I bought to pump out the basement when my primary pump backed up. I tried to use it in the pit and it would pump out too much too fast and made the cycle worse, even when the drainage tiles were pouring in.

The 1/3HP Zoeller seems to be working great, but the built-in switch started sticking on from being cycled too much. I now use a vertical switch mounted on the pipe. It's a lot easier to replace when it does go bad, and raising the kick on point helped to space a few more minutes between cycles.
