Bill, I'm assuming since the original post stated "mostly" black, means there are red carrier blacks in the herd ( be pretty unusual if that is not the case ).
Red hiefers out of the afore will have black or dark hooves, and when bred back to blacks will have mostly black calves ( keep in mind the black bull used on em might be a red carrier thus could be 25% red calves from said matings also ).
