Yes, all 40 series boxes will interchange. Depending on age difference, there may me a few differences in how they are made, but they will swap out just fine. I built a 12R30 head and used gearboxes off of an 8R40 and an 8R32 and everything was the same. BTW, were you pricing a new gearbox or repairs for the bad one? I have found that repairing bad gearboxes tends to be a cheap way to get A LOT more life out of them.
