| Yeah, I don't know either. Whether their encrypted or not, they can't be opened like in notepad or excel, etc. I agree that shape files are no where close to perfect. KML could very will be a better option. I really don't care what we use as long as we could standardize on one. I think eventually we won't be using files at all but rather services that send the data direct to central databases. As more of our equipment add internet to their devices, we will get closer to that.
You have any thoughts on the reasoning Ag Leaders and others use their own formats? I personally think technical reasons is a lame excuse. | |
