| That neutral may have to carry all the current of both hots. If the hots are on the same phase that neutral gets twice the current of the runs and its OVERLOADED. If the hots are on opposite phases of a single phase panel, and both are on the neutral current may be zero. If the supply is three phase, it takes three on to cancel the fundamental in the neutral but the third harmonics won't cancel and that neutral may be overloaded.
