I have never heard anything good about a vacation in Jamaica from anyone who has been there recently. Seems no one who lives there wants to work and rip offs and muggings are not uncommon. "Hustling " is a way of life there.
There are lots of other nice places to visit in the Caribbean area that are nicer and safer. Porto Rico is part of the US for what its worth.
