ECIL | I was in Jamaica in '94 and really enjoyed it. I'm sure the island has changed a lot since then. I stayed away from Montego Bay and didn't really go to Ocho Rios. Instead I stayed at Runaway Bay. Smaller and less crowded, at least back then. The place I stayed at was called the Club Carribbean at the time. I don't know what is is called now. Back then the exchange rate was 22:1 Jamaican:American. Last I checked it was something like 80:1. The locals were friendly, mainly because they wanted to be your servant as a job for the week. Our family has been toying with the idea of going there in the next few years, we'll see. The airport was a pain, something like 17 checks of your luggage, passport, and ID. From what I understand a lot has changed there politically since I was there and I think crime has increased too. I'd research that first before getting any tickets. | |
