I'm in complete agreement. I have no idea why Detroit has an obsession with "V" style engines, in particular, a V-8.
Detroit really needs to get a brain transplant on the subject of diesels. An I-6 or I-5 diesel with a clean turbo setup and common rail injection could be powering a whole lot of light trucks and a I-5 could be powering a lot of cars and SUV's.
