Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | Some 6V to 12V conversions where the old 6V starter was retained, and the starter has the old Bendix inertia type drive, was that with 12V , the starter had enough extra power to break that cushion spring under the drive.
Replacing one or both of the big 6V cables with a skinny little 12V car type cables would reduce the starter power just enough to save that little spring from breaking, yet still start much better than the stock 6V system.
