North Central Iowa

mcupps - 8/25/2010 23:49 Im kinda in the same boat, we contracted 35000 for end of sep-oct-nov contract with a elevator 30 miles away for 20 cents over, and now we are combining dry corn in august and and can haul it 45 miles south of me for 40 cents over cash price, which at current time is still better than our contracted price. So I dont know what im going to do when I get to the pount in harvest when I only have 35000 bushel left to go.

I'm not sure I understand your first couple of sentences.  You have a contract, are you thinking about just walking away, or do you mean you'll have to look into buying it out like the original poster is thinking about?  If there's other options, I'd sure like to hear them, just to learn what can be done in other areas.  If you were happy with the price when you contracted, what's the problem?  I've delivered at least as much corn that was cheaper than the cash price as I have corn that was higher, but I always filled my contracts.

Just curious,

Mike
