This year.....If it is more profitable to go close, buy/negotiate your way out of the other place and sell like crazy to the closer elevator. If you are in the middle of harvest then taking the time to go buy a truck may not be feasable, don't know how many acres you have to cover. Next year.... get a truck, grain bins, whatever it takes to be self sufficient and market yourself accordingly. If the rates are that high down there then you will make the cost of your truck and trailer back pretty fast, bins too for that matter just on harvesting quicker and more efficiently. If you don't need the money first thing in the fall then store it if you can find a good deal on some used bins and a truck and market yourself a little later. If you do need the money up front figure out a way to get what you run first to the elevator via your truck or a combination of your truck and a hired one and let the elevator dry it if necessary and that way you can store the drier stuff yourself. You know your farm the best and what you can and can't cash flow equipment wise. Relying on anyone other than yourself at harvest is always a gamble. It could screw up your marketing and your yield potentials if you aren't careful......part of that may already be happening....
