Our soil tests are always in the high or very high range That is why we do not use any starter and apply all the fertilizer for the crop in the spring. Maybe that is that is the reason for a better winter survival. Like I said before you are not that far from us and it sounds like your soil is very similar. Something is wrong if 35 bu is the norm.
