OK, for the academically enlightened we'll refer to them as Giant Ragweeds but we all know they really are called horseweeds. I never have been able to figure out why you guys up in the black ground have so much trouble raising healthy ones. I mean, I've seen spindly little ones in McLean County, but they were just runts. You get down here in the southeastern part of Illinois and we regularly grow 12-14 ft tall ones. Reminds me of a cousin of Dad's from "up north" (Coles County) who was down one day riding around looking at crops. They came upon a patch of healthy horseweeds and he goes "WHAT IN THE #%^^ IS THAT? "
Anyway, I was out walking around in a corn field this evening when I noticed that any horseweed over 10 ft tall was falling over. In fact, if it weren't for the morning glories they ALL would have fell over. Does anyone have a recommendation to improve the standability of my horseweeds?
