All we're really talking about here is adjusting clock hours, and yes, that IS the point. Since putting "old" hours onto a new tach/hourmeter is easy to do, why not to maintain the accuracy of the true condition of the machine? If you agree, then I think you would also agree that only a chosen few should be able to do this. You know as well as I do that if any and every dealer could do this, all of a sudden there would be many 10,000 plus hour machines with less than 5K hours.

About the only other thing that a factory or "chosen few" needs to have control over is HP uprates. Not only does the company need to be financially compensated (because the customer bought low buck in the first place), they also need to be sure that the uprate is within the capabilities of the rest of the machine.
