| The valve cover gaskets are made from cork and they do go bad after so many hours, and yes it can make a mess. Usually, it goes bad in the back. Tightening the cover does not work once the gasket gets so old.
It's easy to replace. Clean it up good, put sealant on the cover side, install the new gasket and let it sit for a few minutes so it sticks to the cover. Then install the cover. Be careful not to break the cover to head bolts.
Keep an eye on that 9600. Same thing will happen to that, but it's a serious fire hazard on the combine.
