| The 4955 was one of the worst tractors ever made, even by JD. The ring gear and pinion and the final drives were lightened up considerably over the 50 series. Besides that, the powershift is quite unreliable and expensive to repair. Having said that, they are a very comfortable tractor. If you can stand to run the newer series, that is definitely the way to go. The 8000 series could have been a very good tractor if they had just kept the old cab. | |
