If owner keeps income from farm in 2010. Then taxes due in 2011 are their liability. Sounds like they understand, location of farm to buyer, and are taking advantage of the situation. Also, if person farming was notified of possible sale of ground during farming year, How about reimbursement for expenses and field work purformed too date.
